Christmas break Eurostar Travel
Tens of thousands of passengers have been stranded or delayed due to failures of Eurostar trains at the weekend winter recent. Siz broken by Eurostar trains have resulted in as many as 55,000 travelers experience disruptions.
It is reported that while snow shields to protect the power train for 15 years has been effective in the past, unusually severe weather conditions in northern France had caused serious problems. Eurostar say they've identified a technical problem and are taking steps to remedy the problem.
As many as 2,000 passengers were trapped in the train breaks down in the Channel Tunnel. Some are reported to have spent as much as 16 hours confined to their trains under the English Channel. Many had no food, no water and no information Train operators say what was happening. Some stranded passengers left their trains and tried to walk through the cold and dark tunnel that stretches for 24 miles below the channel.
Many passengers have expressed dismay at the way that Eurostar have managed the issues and failed to communicate with passengers. Some passengers are reported to have suffered panic attacks and others have suffered from claustrophobia. Many have complained about the lack of information, food, water and support.
Many people, 31,000 on Saturday and another 27,000 on Sunday, were stranded by cancellations of trains.
The continuing bad weather has caused the flight to be canceled from many UK airports. Forecasters have warned of further travel disruption as snow is expected this week and holidays Christmas. Police authorities in Scotland have advised people to stay home unless their journeys are absolutely essential.
